Time and Broadbeans
51 x 61 acrylic on canvas. Broad beans seem to grow faster than any other plant, flowering profusely and growing large leathery pods that contain a surprise sweetness when there is little else in the garden.
Tim Price is an exuberant painter who depicts all kinds of Tasmanian subjects in a wide variety of styles. A wonderful colourist, he enjoys painting landscape en plein air with a painterly and expressive brushstroke using saturated colour. These works express immediacy and transfer the visceral sense of being in the open air while avoiding conventional pictoral depth. His paintings have the light and colour of Vlaminck and Sisley but with added Hockneyesque colour.
