Flowers from New Norfolk and Molesworth
Acrylic on canvas 51 x 61 cm In Summer every day is a discovery as new flowers unfurl and bloom. Sage green Eucalypt leaves counterpoint purple and yellow iris and red and bronze roses from two gardens, making an exuberant bouquet of Antipodean and European plants.
Tim Price is an exuberant painter who depicts all kinds of Tasmanian subjects in a wide variety of styles. A wonderful colourist, he enjoys painting landscape en plein air with a painterly and expressive brushstroke using saturated colour. These works express immediacy and transfer the visceral sense of being in the open air while avoiding conventional pictoral depth. His paintings have the light and colour of Vlaminck and Sisley but with added Hockneyesque colour.
