From the end of March to the beginning of May, Nolan Gallery will host an inaugural Tasmanian printmakers prize. Called INK, the redoubtable Carolyn Canty has helped me pull this together. A member of the Print Council of Australia, Carolyn is the Tasmanian agent of their celebration of 50 years of promoting, supporting and advocating the printmaker’s art.
INK is for emerging Tasmanian print makers.
What does Emerging mean, I hear you ask. Well, I suppose it is someone who hasn’t built a significant public profile. This may mean a printer still studying, or outside the gallery system or even a digital artist who falls between the cracks of other print prizes. We are always open to suggestions at Nolan Gallery.
Thanks a million to Carolyn Canty, our distinguished judges, (Dr Jan Hogan, Alexandra Pitt and Gregory Nolan), to Roy from Artery (always so generous) and to Adart. Let your printmaking friends know, the more the merrier.
