Kelly Marie-Lewis is a Tasmanian printmaker who explores ideas behind the organic. A term from science and horticulture, organic can be used to mean natural and pure. In her work, however, she uses the word to refer to creative output but in the context of the female body. Her drypoint etchings juxtapose the female form with branches and roots describing growth and creativity.
Kelly-Marie's dramatic black and white linoprints look at the structural form of natural objects, seeing the mundane with fresh eyes.
